Roommin XL vs.Roommin Stainless Steel LitterBox

If you have multiple buns or large-breed buns, the XL is the best option for giving them plenty of space and easy access. If you want something easy to clean, travel-friendly, and designed to keep liners/pee pads safely out of reach, the Standard Stainless model is a great choice. It’s the deepest option, so it holds the most waste and requires less frequent changing and still provides 90% of the spaciousness of the Roommin XL.

Now that the Roommin Stainless Low Entrance model is available, it offers another great choice for senior buns who need a lower step-in while still keeping the convenience of stainless steel.

Why Use Litter Box With Grate/Floor Mat?+

1. Stops the digging fun. If your bunny is having too much fun digging the litter out...this is your solution.

2. Reduces the hay waste. Us bun parents know, bunnies do not eat soiled hay. With a safe grate, it helps to reduce hay waste.

3. Makes cleaning easier for bunparents. You can use any preferred beddings/pee pads at the bottom without worrying about your bunnies tearing and ingesting them that may lead to GI Stasis.

4. Bunnies will no longer be sitting in soiled litter, which will keep their feet and bottoms clean.

5. Bunparents can easily monitor pee and poop condition by simply lifting up the grate as waste easily falls through our grate even for larger buns.

Will The Grate Cause Sore Hocks?+

When it comes to medical concerns like sore hocks, it’s always best to check in with your vet.

Our grate is thoughtfully designed to provide a large, smooth surface—unlike the thin wire floors that are commonly linked to sore hocks. While sore hocks are a medical condition, many bunnies (especially certain breeds) are simply prone to developing callouses. According to our vet, callouses are typically found on the heels, are often still covered in fur, and are not the same as sore hocks.

That said, every bunny is different. Just like some bunnies can zoom across hardwood floors with no issue while others prefer carpet, suitability depends on your individual bun. You know them best—so we encourage you to use your judgement when deciding if our grate is a good fit for their needs.

Is The Grate Floor Safe for Bunnies?+

Roommin’s grate is thoughtfully designed with bunny comfort in mind, including an option with smaller holes for bunnies with daintier front paws.
